Join one of Australia’s favourite performers, Catherine Alcorn, for a delightful morning reliving those magic movie moments and the songs that made them. Relive famous scenes such as when Holly had Breakfast at Tiffany’s, when Bogie saw Bergman and When Harry Met Sally. Spend the morning reminiscing the romance and glamour of the silver screen.

Active Breaks

Redbank Plains Park Adventure

Under Construction

Get your hard hats on for a construction zone like no other. Create a masterpiece with LEGO® and other construction systems. Make a day of it with entry to the Museum and all exhibits included in your entry ticket.

Things to see and do for the kids:

Inventors Workshop – Have you ever wanted to build your own transport invention? How will we travel in the future? What types of engineering masterpieces will you create to take home? Let your imagination run wild in this hands on inventors workshop area.

Dream it! Design it! Build it! – Kids and adults will love this area, jam-packed full of Lego® and other construction gear ready for them to build and test their own inventions. Includes a special under 3’s big block builder’s activity space.

Miniature Train Rides – Take a miniature train ride around the Museum grounds. Train operates 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm daily. Additional charges apply.

Climbing Web

Reach new heights these Easter school holidays at the Ipswich Art Gallery!

Climbing Web features a hand crocheted climbing tunnel by artist Evelyn Roth that fills the entire Children’s Gallery! The Climbing Web is a large-scale multi coloured crocheted net suspended from the gallery ceiling.

Complete with energetic music and spinning disco lights, it’s an exciting and safe environment where kids can climb, tumble, dive and spin while safely suspended off the ground.

Ipswich Artists: works from the Collection

See the diversity and skill of local Ipswich artists in this display featuring works that have been acquired for the Ipswich Art Gallery Collection.

Artists featured are Gary Abkin, Tim Acutt, Chenaya Bancroft-Davis, Annie Clarke, Donna Davis, Charmaine Davis, Mieke den Otter, Colleen Gardener, Angela Geertsma, Sally Harrison, Lizzett Kim, Wayne McDonnell, Sharon McKenzie, Deb Mostert, Kate Roberts, Andrew Spark and Helen Vere. Many of the pieces displayed have been acquired through the Ipswich Art Awards over the past 15 years and are shown in conjunction with this year’s Ipswich Festival.

Bootcamp - HIIT

Head along to Bootcamp. Active Parks HIIT class is where you perform a short burst of high-intensity (or max-intensity) exercise followed by a brief low-intensity activity, repeatedly, until too exhausted to continue. This is a school term activity.

ANZAC: Photographs by Laurence Aberhart

ANZAC is the result of acclaimed New Zealand photographer Laurence Aberhart’s thirty year journey photographing World War One Memorials across New Zealand and Australia.

Focusing on the lone ‘digger’ memorials Aberhart’s photographs chart a seemingly simple pathway through the landscapes of these two nations, reflecting the scale the conflict had on these regions.

This exhibition is presented to coincide with the centenary anniversary of the end of the First World War.
