Ipswich residents can ditch the TV to catch the state’s biggest game in the city’s newest entertainment precinct, with Tulmur Place set to host State of Origin Game One live on the giant newly installed 6m x 3m LED.
Mayor Teresa Harding encouraged residents to grab a rug and blanket, and catch the biggest game of the year with their friends and family when Origin kicks off on 9 June.
“Ipswich is the beating heart of rugby league, and our city has produced countless Queensland representatives over the years,” Mayor Harding said.
“Arguably the biggest games of the season, club loyalties and friendships will be put aside as it becomes mate against mate, state versus state.
“Tulmur Place in the Nicholas Street Precinct will be buzzing, with food trucks, a licensed bar, and the game live and free on the big screen.
“So, grab your family, grab some friends, pack your woollies and a rug, and come on down to watch the mighty Maroons go into battle against the Blues for state honour in 2021.”
State of Origin Game One will be played on Wednesday, 9 June.
Tulmur Place will open at 7pm, with kick-off at 8pm.
Entry is free, with food trucks, and a licensed bar, available on-site.
No alcohol will be allowed to be brought into the venue.
Games two and three will also be shown live and free in Tulmur Place.
