Cold snap on the way for Ipswich

Ipswich residents will be reaching for their winter woolies this weekend, as a cooler change sees temperatures drop across the city.

Forecasters at the Bureau of Meteorology said both minimum and maximum temperatures will dip from Friday.

“We’ll really feel that cooler change heading into the weekend, due to the push of southerly air coming up from southern Australia,” BOM forecaster Rosa Hoff said.

“The drop in maximum temperatures will be most noticeable on Friday as it goes from a top of 31 degrees on Thursday to 24 degrees on Friday.

“Expect minimum temperatures to stay in the single digits across Ipswich for both Saturday and Sunday.”

Saturday’s minimum temperature will be just 6 degrees, rising a single degree to 7 degrees on Sunday and Monday.

But while the days and nights will be cooler, it’s expected to stay dry and sunny.

“We won’t see much rain at all in Ipswich,” Ms Hoff said.

“We’re getting closer to the dry season and the weather is starting to reflect that, however there is a chance of showers on Thursday.”
