Community benefits flow through funding and support programs

Ipswich Croquet Club was among more than 430 recipients to benefit from Ipswich City Council's Community Funding Programs, which distributed $1.2 million across 2025-26.

More than 430 recipients benefited from $1.2 million through Ipswich City Council’s Community Funding Programs across 2025-2026, new figures show.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said council offered a range of funding programs to support community initiatives and partnerships that encourage participation in community life, foster social cohesion, celebrate culture and diversity, and contribute to a vibrant, healthy and sustainable city.

“Strong communities don’t happen by chance; they are built by passionate volunteers and local organisations who give their time to make Ipswich a better place,” Mayor Harding said.

“A total of 438 individuals and organisations were supported across council’s range of Community Funding Programs.

“Council’s funding programs help turn great ideas into real projects that strengthen community connections and improve quality of life across our city.

“Funding is available for a range of initiatives including community events, environment projects, arts programs and sport achievements to highlight a few.

“Every funded project contributes to a stronger, more connected Ipswich.”

Mayor Harding said as well as providing financial support, council remained focused on supporting community organisations, sporting clubs and not-for-profit groups to be as strong as they can be.

“When community groups succeed, Ipswich succeeds,” Mayor Harding said.

“We want our community groups to be as sustainable as possible which is why since 2021 more than 400 local clubs, community groups and organisations have taken part in our Stronger Communities Workshops.

“These workshops build the skills, knowledge and networks needed for organisations and clubs to strengthen their impact in our community.”
