West Moreton Health has begun vaccinating its healthcare workers with the Astra Zeneca vaccine at Ipswich Hospital on Thursday 11 March 2021.
West Moreton Health Nursing and Midwifery Executive Director Karyn Ehren said initially, the AstraZeneca vaccine is being administered to West Moreton Health staff in the 1A priority group.
“These are staff who are at greatest risk of exposure to COVID-19, and who have chosen to receive the vaccine locally,” Ms Ehren said.
“In line with the phased roll-out, the next group scheduled for the vaccine at the Ipswich Hospital clinic is remaining healthcare workers.
“All remaining healthcare workers are part of the phase 1B group.”
Ms Ehren also said that it is important that people continue to protect themselves and others.
“This includes continuing to wash your hands often, practising physical distancing, staying home if you are sick and getting tested if you have any COVID-19 symptoms,” she said.
The vaccine rollout is happing in five stages.
As of 10 March, 11,996 Queenslanders have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
