Dinosaurs set to stomp into Nicholas Street Precinct these school holidays

The Dinosaur Discovery experience will return to Nicholas Street Precinct these school holidays.

The city’s heart will transform into a prehistoric playground these school holidays with the ground-shaking arrival of giant animatronic dinosaurs.

The Dinosaur Discovery experience will return to Nicholas Street Precinct from 22 September to 4 October with a colossal program of activities for adventurers of all ages.

Tulmur Place will roar to life from 10am to 2pm daily with outdoor activities, mini markets, food trucks and more – while the dinosaurs will remain on display day and night.

Families will be able to explore a dinosaur stomp trail between Tulmur Place and d’Arcy Doyle Place.

Ipswich City Council Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said the Dinosaur Discovery experience was a great success with local families attending in record numbers.

“Last year, there were almost 60,000 attendances to Tulmur Place to experience prehistoric life up close, and I am excited to welcome families back for another fantastic program,” Cr Augustine said.

“The full activation invites families to explore a dinosaur stomp trail between Tulmur Place and d’Arcy Doyle Place, where they will stand in the shadows of 12 dinosaur replicas.

“Ipswich continues to be the top destination for school holiday fun, welcoming families from across south-east Queensland to explore and play in our beautiful precinct.”

Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said that Ipswich families will also be able to enjoy a range of free activities and a live show as part of the Dinosaur Discovery experience.

“Ipswich’s smallest dino-lovers will be treated to the Dinosaur Train live show and character meet and greet from 24 to 30 September,” Cr Doyle said.

“Little ones can also enjoy face painting, sand pit discovery digs and two dinosaur-themed photo activations so parents can snap and share all the family fun.”

Division 3 Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said the fun would also bring an important customer boost for businesses in the inner-city.

“A number of local businesses are offering prehistoric-themed specials as part of the dinosaur stomp trail along Nicholas Street, which will be a hub of activity over the school holidays,” Cr Antoniolli said.

“Our revitalised city centre truly thrives during the school holidays, and with three hours of free parking in the precinct, families will have plenty of time to explore all that Ipswich Central has to offer.”
