Thirty-four local sport stars and officials have been announced as finalists for 2025 Ipswich Sports Awards.
Ipswich City Council Community and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Jacob Madsen said this year’s finalists were an impressive list from a diverse range of sports.
“Sport stars across 31 sports are set to be honoured at the sports awards, from darts and pickleball to American football and athletics,” Cr Madsen said.
“Ipswich punches well above its weight in sports and it’s clear that our community enjoys a wide variety of sports.
“The annual Ipswich Sports Awards recognise those who go above and beyond for their clubs, whether as an official, volunteer, coach or player.
“Council is proud to acknowledge and reward those who make local sports possible.”
The eight categories in this year’s awards are: Senior Sportsperson of the Year, Junior Sportsperson of the Year, Masters Sportsperson of the Year, Team of the Year, Sporting Organisation of the Year, Coach of the Year, Official of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
“Finalists have been chosen and winners will be announced on Wednesday 29 October during a ceremony at Ipswich Civic Centre,” Cr Madsen said.
“Winners in each category will receive $2,000 in prize money.
