Have your say with the Ipswich Libraries Annual Survey

The Ipswich Libraries Annual Survey is open now.

Ipswich City Council is inviting the community to share its experience of Ipswich Libraries through a quick online survey.

Sports and Community Committee Chairperson Councillor Jacob Madsen said Ipswich Libraries are valued assets in the community, with thousands of residents enjoying their time at the six branches and library pod each year.

“Our libraries are at the heart of our community giving residents a place to study, read, play and meet – they are much more than just buildings to read or borrow books,” Cr Madsen said.

“There’s so much on offer at each branch. Our ever-popular library programs offer fun and insightful activities for residents of all ages, whether you want to engage in the Makerspace, learn about the history of Ipswich or take your kids along to a story time.

“Ipswich Libraries has become a go-to place for many families during school holidays, hosting workshops such as wildlife shows, robot testing and more.

“The annual libraries survey is an important tool in helping council to understand what is working well, the changing needs of our library users and what we can do to improve.”

Cr Madsen said 1,464 people shared their thoughts last year and valuable insight into what they enjoy about the libraries.

“Some shared that their love for reading was reignited thanks to Ipswich Libraries while others spoke about how much they enjoy the Makerspace area and library app,” Cr Madsen said.

“The survey revealed an overall satisfaction rating of 92 per cent; this was fantastic news to receive and all credit goes to the hard work and commitment of our staff.

“Our staff are what make the city’s libraries what they are. The team puts an incredible amount of effort in to creating programs that cater to the whole community, as well as being the friendly face to greet visitors.

“Last year’s satisfaction rating was a true testament of their work, and we hope that our residents feel the same, or better, this year with the service they’ve received.

“We hope to hear more positive feedback this year, but we also welcome suggestions on what we can do to improve.

“Each piece of feedback will help us make each library branch better.”

Your feedback helps shape the future of Ipswich Libraries – from the programs they offer to the spaces, services, and collections they provide.

Ipswich Libraries includes the Ipswich Central Library and Ipswich Children’s Library in Tulmur Place, Springfield Central Library, Redbank Plaza Library, Redbank Plains Library, Rosewood Library, the Karalee Library Pod as well as the online Virtual Branch.
