As restrictions ease, the Ipswich Art Gallery is welcoming visitors back into the gallery when it reopens on Friday 12 June.
Up to 20 visitors at a time will be able to view the latest exhibitions.
Ipswich Deputy Mayor Marnie Doyle said this new way of sharing art would require a little adjustment.
“We are pleased to be able to welcome the community back to the Ipswich Art Gallery,” Cr Doyle said.
“A visit to the gallery will look a bit different as we are asking people to book their free ticket to one of the four daily sessions online so we can ensure physical distancing guidelines are met.
“The important thing is that we all play our part to protect each other as the community comes back together to visit our vibrant art gallery.”
Sessions are 90 minutes long to enable a full exploration of the gallery’s displays and exhibitions.
The main exhibition is an interactive exhibition Colour: See the World in a New Light developed by Questacon, which has more than 25 learning stations.
The vibrant paintings of Almost the Last Supper: New work by Merton Chambers will again be on show.
Look through a window into the city’s past in Early Ipswich: Photographs and Prints or enjoy the varied objects and artworks that make up the City of Ipswich collection.
The gallery is open seven days a week, with sessions at
- 9.30am to 11am
- 11.30am to 1pm
- 1.30pm to 3pm
- 3.30pm to 5pm
Tickets can be booked here.
A range of measures are being implemented in order to provide a safe and healthy environment for visitors, including hand sanitiser stations and additional scheduled cleaning throughout the day.
The Gallery Shop will be open for contactless card transactions from 9.30am until 5pm.
