It’s paw-ty time! Ipswich Dog Day returns for 2025

Get ready for a tail-wagging good time as Ipswich Dog Day returns to celebrate Ipswich’s furry friends and the residents who love them.

Ipswich City Council Economic and Cultural Development Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said Ipswich Dog Day has become a beloved day out for residents and their four-legged friends.

“Starting in 2022 as Dogfest, residents quickly took up the opportunity to bring their doggo to the heart of the city to enjoy treats and a play,” Cr Augustine said.

“Past iterations of the event have been a hit with the community, and it has quickly become a popular event on our city’s calendar.

“Dog Day is a way to connect with local businesses who offer all kinds of goods and services related to dogs, from K9 therapists and photographers to dog clothes and houses.

“This year, we’re lucky to have Lara Shannon as the MC. Lara is a well-known TV presenter, producer and author, specialising as a dog behaviourist and trainer. She’ll be sharing tips and special insight into all things dog related.

“With a wide range of stalls taking part, you’re sure to find everything your dog wants and needs.

“There will also be a range of resources available to help owners understand the importance of responsible dog ownership.

“Attendees can connect with vets and ask questions, speak to council’s Animal Management team, or chat with Animal Rescue Services.

“On the lighter side of things, your dog could be crowned as the Ipswich Dog of the Day.”

Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said Tulmur Place would become a dog lovers paradise for the day.

“Nicholas Street Precinct has provided a place for our residents to gather and enjoy unique celebrations and this will be another exciting day in Tulmur Place,” Cr Doyle said.

“We’re confident that this year’s Ipswich Dog Day will be a barking success.

“Dogs are more than just pets to many of us; they’re family. This is a celebration of these special family members who bring so much happiness to us.”

Ipswich Dog Day 2025 will be held on Saturday 24 May from 10am to 2pm in Tulmur Place in the Nicholas Street Precinct.

Parking is free in the Nicholas Street Carpark on weekends with entry via Bremer Street.
