An Ipswich primary school principal has recently been recognised in the Australian Education Awards which comes as no surprise to her young students.
Ipswich Junior Grammar School principal Nicolee Eiby received an Excellence Award in the Primary School Principal of the Year (non-government) category.
The year one students put together a presentation to show a day in the life of Mrs Eiby for the school assembly.
“She sprinkles kindness wherever she goes,” said one student.
“When you talk to Mrs Eiby it’s like being wrapped in a big warm hug,” said another.
Mrs Eiby said being an educator is a huge responsibility and it’s not something she takes for granted.
“I love being in a role that allows me to make a positive impact on the lives of every boy and girl who attends Junior Grammar,” Mrs Eiby said.
“We are fortunate to be a part of such a kind community and I am genuinely humbled.
“I love my job.”
Mrs Eiby has been head of the Junior School for four years and her leadership has been recognised in a second category as the Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School including Ipswich Junior Grammar School was also a finalist in the Best School Strategic Plan category.
Principal and CEO, Dr Peter Britton, acknowledges the students, parents, staff and Board of Trustees for establishing a wonderful school climate that values diligence, excellence, respect, integrity and care.
“We remain steadfast in our strategic vision to inspire our students to become confident, well-educated boys and girls, and to nurture our young learners to become future leaders,” Dr Britton said.
The Australian Education Awards recognise outstanding achievements of people, programs and schools across Australia in 23 categories.
