Major Ipswich road upgrades announced

One of Ipswich’s busiest intersections will be upgraded as part of the State Government’s $400 million COVID-19 roads package.

The fiveways intersection between Brisbane Road, Chermside Road and Glebe Roadwill receive a $10 million upgrade under Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Accelerated Works Program to deliver new road, bridge and pavement sealing works across the state.

Member for Ipswich Jennifer Howard welcomed the investment and said it would provide a boost for the local economy.

“This funding will create work for local businesses and support 15 jobs during construction,” Ms Howard said.

A further $15 million will be spent on upgrading the Centenary Motorway and Logan Motorway Interchange at Springfield.

The project will extend the Centenary Highway’s second lane further north, prior to the Roxwell Street Overpass.

Member for Jordan Charis Mullen said it was great news for road safety and for reducing congestion on the motorway.

“This project will alleviate congestion for local commuters, and businesses who use this major interchange that links the Centenary Motorway to the Logan Motorway,” Ms Mullen said.

“The upgrade will also provide improved access to and from Carole Park, a major industrial area, and from Greater Springfield and Ripley.”

The Centenary Motorway and Logan Motorway Interchange upgrade will create an additional 15 jobs.
