Ipswich City Council’s 2026-2027 Budget will keep Division 2 residents moving with a strong focus on upgrades to key transport corridors, local roads and sporting facilities.
Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic said essential upgrades to the city’s busiest road corridors would continue to support rapid growth in Springfield and surrounding suburbs.
“A key highlight is $22.4 million over three years to complete Stage 2 of the Springfield Parkway upgrade from Topaz Road to Hymba Yumba Independent School, funded in part through the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme,” Deputy Mayor Jonic said.
“There is also $10.5 million over the next three years as part of a $51.85 million project to upgrade Augusta Parkway and Sinnathamby Boulevard to a four-lane urban road from Eden Station Drive to Main Street, including bridge duplication.
“The are some of the biggest road projects in our city’s history and will deliver substantial connectivity and productivity improvements for our community.”
Division 2 Councillor Paul Tully said further improvements to the local road network were programmed for the established suburbs of Goodna, Bellbird Park and Camira.
“There is $1.5 million for road pavement reconstruction works on Church Street at Goodna, $600,000 for works on Johnston Street at Bellbird Park and $510,000 for improvements to Old Logan Road at Camira,” Cr Tully said.
“We’re also investing in our local parks, with $420,000 over two years to replace playgrounds at Griffiths Park at Bellbird Park, Regatta Walk at Springfield Central and Grande Park at Springfield Lakes.
“Maintaining and renewing our local roads and other community infrastructure is critical to protecting and enhancing the liveability of our suburbs for residents.”
