Springfield Lakes Pest Fishing Classic

Get your rods ready, this is one family fun day with some great prizes up for grabs you won’t want to miss. This one-off, one-day, joint event supported by Lendlease, Ipswich City Council and Department of Agriculture and Fisheries will be strictly managed under a Biosecurity Queensland pest fishing permit through fishing event management group, 2 Bent Rods, to create awareness of noxious fish species and their impact on local biodiversity.

Dog Day Out and free movie night

Bring your dogs. Bring your family. A Dog Day Out and movie night is planned to celebrate the new park at Ecco Ripley. The park includes a dog off leash area. Expect loads of dog-themed fun, plus prizes to be won. There will be food trucks and face painting. The family-friendly movie Oddball will screen from 5pm.

Ipswich kicks off at home with Defence Force Appreciation Day against Intrust Super Cup heavyweights Townsville. The day features four games from 11.30am.

ANZAC is the result of acclaimed New Zealand photographer Laurence Aberhart’s thirty year journey photographing World War One Memorials across New Zealand and Australia.

Focusing on the lone ‘digger’ memorials Aberhart’s photographs chart a seemingly simple pathway through the landscapes of these two nations, reflecting the scale the conflict had on these regions.

This exhibition is presented to coincide with the centenary anniversary of the end of the First World War.

parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. All ages and abilities can go along and run the 5km course. Please register before your first run. Bring a printed copy of your barcode so you can get your time. You are also welcome to grab a coffee in a local cafe with the parkrunners afterwards.
