Zonta International Women's Day breakfast

Zonta Club of Greater Springfield will celebrate International Women’s Day with a breakfast at Brookwater Golf and Country Club. Guest speaker will be Leisa Goddard. Leisa Goddard has more than 25 years media experience reporting on major news stories and events around the world for all three of Australia’s top television networks. She was Network Ten’s United States bureau chief, based in Los Angeles and was nominated for a Logie for reporting while embedded with Australian troops during the Afghanistan War.

Scale-free network: Micro Draw Workshops

See the world in a whole new way! Ipswich Art Gallery will be home to Scale Free Network’s exciting art-science laboratory. Microscope drawing workshops combine a lesson in science, art and mathematics inspired by the microscopic world.

Using the microscopes supplied, students look at slides and live samples from different areas of scientific research such as microbiology, geology, water ecology, parasitology and botany as well as their own special objects. They then create works of art. This is for students in Years 3-10. Bookings are usually made by teachers and are essential.

Nippers play and learn

Nippers Play & Learn sessions bring the magic of rail to life for our youngest visitors with singing, art and craft, storytelling and games.

Meet at the entrance of The Workshops Rail Museum for these interactive, fun-filled one-hour sessions. No need to book, but note that these sessions are exclusive to annual pass holders.

Women's self defence

Join De Been 100% Jiu Jitsu and learn self-confidence and simple techniques to have the highest possible chance to defend yourself should the need ever arise in a real life situation. The focus is on teaching practical methods for women to ward off an assailant.

Learn to Longboard - Women On Wheels

Learn to skateboard with a friendly female coach in an all-girl environment with seven free clinics covering skating and longboarding. All the gear is provided and anyone can participate, from absolute beginners to those looking to learn a few more tricks. Sign up today!
