Nicholas St update: Progress continues on new administration building

About 170 workers are currently working across the Nicholas St redevelopment, delivering the new library, council administration centre and civic plaza.

Council crews continue to work toward opening the new general Ipswich Library.

For workers building the administration building, the focus in the past week or so has been on installing external roof cladding to the steel roof structure while roofing continues on level nine.

Framing for amenities is taking place on level eight. The curtain wall and tiling for amenities on level seven have been installed.

Closer to the ground, painting and setting of internal walls is taking place on level three with ceiling framing ongoing on level two.

In the civic plaza space, concreting, installation of seats and planter walls outside the administration building have been the focus.

Concreting and pouring of footing continue on the Bremer Street cross over.

The Nicholas St redevelopment is a once-in-a-generation development set to shape the city’s centre for years to come.
