Nominate a local sporting hero for the 2025 Ipswich Sports Awards

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding, Councillors and 2024 Ipswich Sports Awards winners.

Do you know a local sports star, coach or volunteer who goes above and beyond for their club and community?

The Ipswich sporting community is being called on to step up and shine, with nominations now open for the Ipswich City Council 2025 Ipswich Sports Awards.

Community and Sports Committee Chairperson Councillor Jacob Madsen said the Ipswich Sports Awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise the efforts of those who are making a difference on and off the field.

“Sport plays such an important role in bringing our communities together, giving our residents even more reasons to be proud of our city,” Cr Madsen said.

“Whether it’s a star athlete or a dedicated volunteer, the Ipswich Sports Awards are about acknowledging the hard work of those who work tirelessly in the spotlight and behind the scenes.

“This is a chance to thank our locals for their contribution to sport in Ipswich. Council is incredibly proud to host these awards each year.”

There are eight categories this year:

  • Senior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Masters Sportsperson of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Sporting Organisation of the Year
  • Coach of the Year

  • Volunteer of the Year

In addition to the recognition, winners will receive $2,000 in prize money.
