Off the Wall art a collection of time

Goodna artist Benitta Harding (Below) got her first pastel set at the age of 8 and has been drawing ever since.
Her artwork ‘Time Passes By’ (Above) is showing at the ‘Off the Wall’ exhibition.

“It’s a couple of my friends sitting at Kangaroo Point. I created it in a couple of days. I like to work on a piece until it’s done so I can get the idea out of my head and onto paper,” she said.

“I find people fascinating and I think we can all connect. We are all human and I want to have more of an understanding and connection with people.

“I’m interested in the backstory of people.”

Benitta works full time as an artist producing her own. She also freelances for a stage company in Asia, designing sets.

She has had four solo exhibitions, 16 group exhibitions, been a semi-finalist in the Moran Prize and is currently a finalist in the Clifton Art Prize.

ArtsConnect is a collective of Ipswich artists who will be featured in the Off the Wall exhibition.

ArtsConnect president Glen Smith invited people to look.

“When you buy something from an artist you’re buying more than an object. You are buying a piece of a heart, a piece of a soul and a small piece of someone else’s life,” he said.

Over 40 local ArtsConnect artists are showcasing their work in an exhibition ‘Off the Wall’ until November 26.

It’s at Ipswich community Gallery at d’Arcy Doyle Place. If you want something, you can buy it then and there and literally take it off the wall and home with you. There are over 300 pieces of art for sale.

Artworks include painting, drawing, photography, textiles, jewellery, pottery and craft items. The Ipswich community Gallery will be open daily from 10am to 3pm.
