The New Year means changes to Ipswich City Council’s free community immunisation program.
Council conducts weekly immunisation clinics and scheduled school clinics.
Clinics at Ipswich Health Plaza, Priceline Riverlink and Goodna Community Health have now ceased to operate.
From the start of 2019, clinics will operate at Ipswich Central Library, Springfield Central Library and Redbank Plains Community Centre.
Vaccinations are provided free of charge as part of the National Immunisation Program Queensland Schedule.
There is no need to make an appointment, but attendees should bring their Medicare card and child’s immunisation record book.
If you don’t have a book, a receipt of vaccination card will be provided, however, it is preferable that all records be kept in a single location to ensure a complete history.
School aged children who missed a vaccination are encouraged to attend the weekly community clinics for catch-up.
Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting your child against harmful diseases that can cause serious complications and sometimes death.
By reducing the spread of disease, immunisation not only protects individuals, but also the community.
