Families can slide, climb and explore at a revitalised Grande Park playground at Springfield Lakes following the completion of upgrades to the popular community park.
Improvements have delivered a brand-new mountain slide as well as new natural play elements and landscaping.
Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic said the upgrades delivered an exciting and refreshed destination for local families.
“Grande Park is a popular place for families, particularly those with younger children, and these upgrades have made it even more inviting for children to get outdoors, be active and let their imaginations run wild,” Deputy Mayor Jonic said.
“Cr Tully and I have given the new mountain slide a go and can confirm it’s loads of fun and sure to be a hit.”
Division 2 Councillor Paul Tully said new natural play elements added extra opportunities for adventure and discovery.
“The previous mound with slides had reached end of life, so it was necessary to replace it,” Cr Tully said.
“The replacement mounded area has been designed for children aged three to five years old, and installed in a way so as to also address erosion and stormwater runoff.
“There are also natural play elements to complement the new slide such as hardwood timber logs which have been placed tightly together and at differing heights for stepping.
“In the months ahead, council also plans to install shade sails over the playground to provide sun protection for park users.”
Grande Park is on Grande Avenue at Springfield Lakes.
