Calling all foodies: how you can get a taste of Ipswich

A tantalising new dining experience is set to give South-East Queensland foodies a taste of Ipswich.

It’s all part of Ipswich City Council’s Flavours of Ipswich pilot program, which will showcase a range of local restaurants and their most popular dishes between 7 and 24 April 2021.

Food lovers from near and far will be able to dine at participating Ipswich restaurants for a set price two course lunch or three course dinner menu created exclusively for the Flavours of Ipswich program.

Mayor Teresa Harding said the program would put Ipswich on the culinary map.

“We have such a diverse range of delicious restaurants and dining options featuring a variety of cuisines here in Ipswich,” Mayor Harding said.

“Flavours of Ipswich is a wonderful opportunity to put our city’s foodie experiences on the map for residents and visitors alike.

“We welcome visitors to Ipswich for a taste of what we have on offer but be warned, we have some well-kept secrets and you’ll be hooked!”

Economic and Industry Development Committee chair Councillor Nicole Jonic said the program would give the local hospitality sector a much-needed boost in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Know a restaurant that would be a great fit for the Flavours of Ipswich program?

Local restaurants and cafes can submit an expression of interest for the program at the Discover Ipswich website.

Applications close at 5pm Wednesday, 17 February 2021.

Participating restaurants will be profiled on the Discover Ipswich website along with their Flavours of Ipswich menu in the coming weeks.

A supporting campaign will showcase the program to food lovers across the Ipswich and Brisbane region.

“Ipswich’s hospitality sector took a big hit during the COVID-19 lockdown, with many of our local restaurant and café workers stood down for a significant period of time,” Cr Jonic said.

“Developed in consultation with local hospitality operators, Flavours of Ipswich will bring more customers to our local restaurants and cafes giving them a shot in the arm when they need it most.”
