Celebrate jacaranda season with purple cocktails and food

As the jacarandas bloom from October to November there’s plenty of ways to get into the spirit. 

Here are six places around Ipswich where you can find purple food and drinks.

Bakehouse Steakhouse

Bakehouse Steakhouse has a purple ink gin behind the bar and have come up with an exclusive Jacaranda fizz cocktail.

In it is cointreau, curacao bleu, grenadine, cranberry, lemon and soda and the result is a sweet fizz with undertones of citrus, perfect for spring.

Ungermann Brothers

Grab a scoop of Ungermann Brothers signature lavender and honeycomb ice cream, or get them to whip you up one of their new milkshake creations.  The Lavender milkshake is a sweet fragrant heaven.  

Dovetails

At Dovetails check out their special jacaranda inspired dish: red wine linguine pasta with ghee, minced garlic roasted pine nuts and basil served with shaved or grated parmesan cheese or crumbled feta.

You can also get a purple Inked Gin cocktail to wash it down with.

At the Pumpyard celebrate jacaranda season with a purple rain cocktail share jug.

It’s based on vodka, blue curacao, cranberry juice, pineapple juice and chambord, a squeeze of lime and blueberries.

The Cottage Restaurant

Head down to The Cottage Restaurant and grab a purple macaron which is served with their delicious high tea.  Take a walk around the side of the restaurant and check out the purple lavender with a glass of red wine.
