Community asked to help shape next era of Ipswich City Council

Residents are being asked to help guide the direction of Ipswich City Council over the next five years, with community consultation open for council’s next Corporate Plan.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the Corporate Plan 2026-2031 will be council’s primary strategic document, guiding organisational decisions around future projects and services.

“The Corporate Plan is one of council’s most important documents and it’s vital we gain input from our principal stakeholders – the people of Ipswich,” Mayor Harding said.

“Council is seeking to determine how we can best serve the community in line with our 20-year vision for the city – ‘Ipswich, a city of opportunity for all. Join us’ – and we encourage residents to have their say.

“With a population of more than 265,000, this is a crucial time for Ipswich as our city and region undergo significant growth and change in the years leading to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“We want to ensure Ipswich remains a great place to live and residents can help to shape the future priorities, strategies and actions of Ipswich City Council.

“Residents can have their say at pop-up events throughout the city, including festivals, shopping centres, community centres and public spaces, where residents can share their thoughts with council officers.

“Council also welcomes online feedback via the Shape Your Ipswich website until 23 November, 2025, while we will also undertake targeted engagement with key local stakeholders.”

Finance and Governance Committee Chairperson Councillor Paul Tully said council is taking these proactive measures to engage with the community to ensure a robust consultation process.

“The community consultation process is one of the most important steps in formulating council’s Corporate Plan for 2026-2031,” Cr Tully said.

“It helps us answer the imperative question, ‘what do the people of Ipswich need from its council’.

“The next five years are an incredibly exciting time for Ipswich as we continue to thrive as a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable city, so don’t miss out on your opportunity to help guide the future of Ipswich City Council.”
