Connections for Seniors this October

Ipswich’s senior citizens are being celebrated across a busy October of activities and events for Queensland Seniors Month 2023.

Through to 31 October, Ipswich City Council has collated a calendar of activities for local seniors to enjoy across the whole city.

Community, Culture, Arts and Sports Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said seniors make up more than 10 per cent of Ipswich’s population.

“This year we are celebrating the involvement, energy and connections our seniors provide to Ipswich’s community,” Cr Fechner said.

“The Ipswich Seniors Expo, hosted by Able Australia and supported by council, is being held on Wednesday 18 October from 10am to 1pm at Ipswich Showgrounds Exhibition and Display Centre, 81 Warwick Road, Ipswich.

“Council also has an exciting line-up of seniors focused events across the city, including free physical activity classes including tai chi, yoga and aqua fitness.

“If you’ve ever struggled to understand your latest smartphone or can’t get your email login to work, our libraries are hosting free technology sessions and advice.

“There’s also a host of entertainment events, including a 1950s Revival Party at Riverview and District Community Centre, gardening events and festivals, and even a mystery bus tour.”
