Ipswich residents can advertise their trash and treasure for free this November, as council partners with the Garage Sale Trail to deliver in-person and online events.
Mayor Teresa Harding said the Garage Sale Trail is a great opportunity for residents to get involved in recycling and the circular economy.
“Last year saw almost 28,000 kilograms of items reused locally with over 5,000 Ipswich residents participating as either sellers, shoppers or online attendees,” Mayor Harding said.
“As Ipswich’s favourite pre-loved festival, the Garage Sale Trail is expected to be an even bigger and better opportunity to recycle household goods in 2021.”
What’s so big about this festival?
It is expected more than 250,000 Australians will either shop or sell at over 10,000 garage sales online and in the community over two big weekends, 13-14 and 20-21 November.
This festival is promoted by more than 100 councils across Australia and with so many participants it is anticipated that more than 1.5 million kilograms of items will be sold and saved from landfill.
Think about it as a normal garage sale but with more support and more opportunities to get your message out there.
