Have you seen TOTI the Christmas elf?

Have you seen TOTI the Christmas elf? That’s the question being asked as retailers in Ipswich’s Top of Town precinct spread festive cheer.

They have enlisted the help of a playful little elf called TOTI (Top of Town Ipswich), who is hiding throughout the precinct waiting for eagle-eyed visitors to find him.

Each day, TOTI moves to a new location and waits to be found.

He can be found by as many people as wish to on any given day, with those who do eligible to enter a draw to win a prize pack worth more than $1,000. The winner will also take home TOTI.

Photos giving a hint as to where TOTI is hiding each day are posted on the Top of Town Facebook page and on Instagram via @topoftown_ipswich

Mrs Claus & Santa store owner Tina Regan said the promotion had been well received.

“We wanted to do something families could enjoy, so a few of us came up with the idea of TOTI the elf,” she said.

“He’s dressed up like Where’s Wally and has been travelling up and down the street each day to a different business.

The Top of Town precinct.

“I think he’s already indulged in some cupcakes, had his hair done and maybe even gotten a tattoo.

“A lot of people don’t realise the great shops we have in the Top of Town precinct, so we are hoping TOTI encourages them to stop and spend a bit more time exploring.”

Jo Hart of clothing store Oh! JoJo Boutique said as well as engaging shoppers, TOTI had encouraged business owners to get to know one another.

“Each day, it’s up to the business owner who had TOTI that day to get him to the next place he needs to be,” she said.

“It’s been great, because it’s prompted people to meet their own community and introduce themselves to one another, and learn about other businesses in the precinct.”

Twenty-six businesses in the Top of Town precinct are participating in the TOTI fun, with each displaying a ‘Where’s TOTI’ sticker on the front of their business.

Entries must be received at Heisenberg Haus at 164 Brisbane Street by 11am Saturday, 21 December – at which time a winner will be drawn.
