It’s a juggling act you don’t go to circus school for.
In his left hand, Planning, Development and Heritage Committee chairman Councillor David Morrison is holding 159 years of Ipswich history that need to be preserved.
In his right hand, Cr Morrison ushers in new growth through master-planned communities and development on a massive scale.
Ipswich is going through the most dramatic changes in its history, right now.
Cr Morrison explains, that is what is great about living in our city in 2018 and beyond.
“We are in the unique situation of mixing Queensland’s oldest provincial city with the surge of growth in all sectors,” he said.
“Most of us have recently witnessed some remarkable performances by the best athletes in the Commonwealth. To perform at such a level is a result of strict discipline and planning.
“Council has plans that we believe are the best for the present and the future. Like all plans they can change if better reasons and facts are presented.
“Council has the responsibility to plan for the present and the future and in some cases plan to fix mistakes of the past. “
Cr Morrison has been asked by the Ipswich Historical Society to speak at Cooneana Heritage Centre this weekend, Sunday 22 April at 10.30am. The cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.
Cr Morrison will speak about his role on the Planning, Development and Heritage committee, what some of its most significant achievement have been and his own vision for the future.
