As the countdown to a new year begins, Ipswich is gearing up for a memorable New Year’s Eve celebration.
The city is set to dazzle with spectacular festivities, including breathtaking fireworks and engaging community events, marking the ushering in of a new chapter.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said New Year’s Eve was a time for celebration, reflection and anticipation.
“This year’s events are a testament to the resilience and spirit of our community – we invite everyone to join us as we bid farewell to the old and welcome the new with open arms,” she said.
“As Ipswich prepares to ring in the New Year, the city stands united in celebrating the strength, diversity and optimism that define this vibrant community.
“One event that reflects this is the celebration at the Tivoli Drive In, which will feature a bustling marketplace, an array of engaging family activities, mouth-watering food and live entertainment from a host of performers.”
The event is free and goes from 3pm to 9pm, Sunday 31 December at the Tivoli Drive In, 50 Coal Road, Chuwar.
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the highlight of the evening would be the colourful fireworks displays that would illuminate the night sky.
“Fireworks will launch across the region at 9pm in Springfield Central, South Ripley, Ipswich Central, Chuwar and Goodna,” Cr Fechner said.
“With an intricate choreography of colors and patterns, the fireworks are poised to be the grand finale to a year filled with challenges and triumphs, symbolising hope and new beginnings.
“Launch locations have been strategically chosen in central locations where residents can view the displays from their home backyards or in large, open public spaces nearby.
