Residents will benefit from more easily accessible information about council services thanks to improvements to the Ipswich City Council website.
Community and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Jacob Madsen said the first major refresh of ipswich.qld.gov.au in six years focuses on improving usability and searchability.
“The Ipswich City Council website is a critical tool for residents to be able to access information about their city, as well as engaging with council about matters in our communities,” Cr Madsen said.
“As a fast-growing city with a population of more than 265,000, council is determined to respond to the shifting priorities of our residents and that includes improving and streamlining customer service experiences.
“More people are choosing to engage with council online. The number of people paying their rates online rose by 17 per cent in the past 12 months and there are about 165,000 unique visits to council’s website each month.
“We have listened to user feedback and used analytics to develop this much-needed refresh of our website, with the front page reconfigured to provide easier and faster access to our most commonly used services.
“For example, users will see buttons relating to reporting issues to council, planning and building services, waste and recycling, making payments and dog registrations on the front page.
“More than half of the traffic on council’s website goes to these areas.
“It will also have vastly improved search capabilities to help residents be easily able to find information contained across almost 550 pages on the council website.
“Links to other key council websites including Ipswich Libraries, Ipswich Civic Centre, Ipswich Art Gallery, Ipswich Festivals, Picture Ipswich and Shape Your Ipswich will also feature on the website.”
The new-look website is expected to go live on Tuesday 16 September.
