Ipswich Sports Awards 2018 – nominations close soon

Sporting teams, organisations, junior and senior sportspeople, coaches and officials all qualify to enter the 2018 City of Ipswich Sports Awards.

Ipswich Sports Award nominations close soon so now is the time to act and nominate an outstanding sporting contribution. This annual awards event presented by Ipswich City Council offers up to $2,000 in prize money in each category.

Nominations close Sunday, 7 October, 2018. Ipswich’s strong sporting heritage has produced many sports stars, volunteers, administrators and clubs. Council strongly urges clubs to encourage nominations from members and supporters.

Categories for the 2018 awards are:

• Team of the Year

• Senior Sportsperson of the Year

• Sporting Organisation of the Year

• Junior Sportsperson of the Year

• Master Sportsperson of the Year

• Coach of the Year

• Official of the Year

• Volunteer of the Year

In a video recorded this week, last year’s Senior Sportsperson of the Year Archie Graham encouraged residents to submit nominations for the 2018 awards.

The Ipswich tennis ace is the world’s highest ranked player with an intellectual disability and in 2017 became the first person to win three consecutive INAS World Tennis Championships. Continuing to improve his performance in mainstream tournaments remains a focus for Archie.

Nominations can be completed online via council’s website www.ipswich.qld.gov.au or phone 3810 6666 for more information.
