Ipswich’s newest off-leash dog park will be officially opened on Saturday, 9 November.
The 2,500 square metre slice of canine heaven is on Harmony Crescent at Providence, South Ripley.
It has off-leash areas for small and large dogs, canine agility equipment and a sheltered area where owners can watch over their pets in comfort.
For the grand opening, the red carpet will be rolled out for canine lovers and their furry friends with Providence hosting a mega celebration from 5pm to 7pm.
There will be competitions and games with prizes including My Dog Has Talent, an owner/dog look alike contest and a canine version of Musical Chairs.
As well, there will be a special canine Christmas photo booth and presentations on a range of matters pertaining to pooches by Ipswich Dog Obedience Club, Ripley Vet and local dog behaviourist Veronica from Thumping Tails.
One lucky community will also receive the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially open the park.
Leading into the grand opening, the Ripley Markets will take place from 3pm to 8pm at the nearby Splash ‘n’ Play Park, with more than 60 stalls, live music, children’s entertainment and delicious food on offer.
The opening will also coincide with the fourth annual Dogs on Patrol event presented by Queensland Police.
Attendees will be able to collect a Dogs on Patrol dog tag, with free engraving courtesy of Ipswich District Prevention Unit.
Providence project director Michael Khan said the event would be the perfect occasion to showcase the township’s latest addition.
“We know how much so many of our residents love their four-legged friends and we are thrilled to be able to provide a safe and clean environment for them to play, exercise and socialise,” he said.
