More free family fun at upgraded Ipswich library

Redbank Plains Library has started a new page in its story with its official reopening today.

The refurbished library has more floorspace and meeting rooms, new furniture, a larger collection, a beautiful new children’s area and has been freshly painted inside and out.

Deputy Mayor and Division 1 Councillor Jacob Madsen said the refurbishment was a rewarding endeavour that was a response to community feedback.

“Councillor Ireland and I listened to the community and worked hard for these new technologies and amenities, which we believe will greatly enhance the library’s ability to serve its community for many years to come,” Cr Madsen said.

“This includes the digital interactive activity table, which is designed to run a variety of games that encourage children to be creative, problem solve, and to have fun.

“There is also a Duplo activity table and a drawing and colouring activity table, so the whole area is a great opportunity for children to learn, bond and play with family and friends.”

Division 1 Councillor Sheila Ireland said the redesigned space could now host children programs, which was a key benefit of the refurbishment.

“Our city’s popular children’s programs will now run on a regular basis, and this includes Toddler Time, Book and Blocks and Story Time, which is a great addition for families in the area,” Cr Ireland said.

“You could easily spend a couple of hours reading and playing in this beautiful new area.

“In addition to the added space, technology and programming, we have also added a wide range of books, including Marketplace collections, New Arrivals, Mysteries and Thrillers, Memoirs to House and Garden, the whole gamut of genres.”
