New General Manager Planning and Regulatory Services appointed

Ipswich City Council has appointed Peter Tabulo as General Manager, Planning and Regulatory Services.

Mr Tabulo will start in the role on Monday 2 December, 2019.

He is currently Director of Planning and Development at neighbouring Somerset Regional Council, a position he has held since June 2018.

Previously, Mr Tabulo was Chief Executive Officer of Cairns Regional Council from 2012-2016 and prior to that was the General Manager of Planning at Cairns for 11 years.

Brett Davey, who was Acting General Manager, Planning and Regulatory Services, will remain with Ipswich City Council in his role as branch manager for the Development Planning Branch.

CEO David Farmer thanked Mr Davey for acting in the GM role this year and welcomed the appointment of Mr Tabulo.

“Peter brings extensive local government experience from having worked in a number of councils,” Mr Farmer said.

“He will add strength and a breadth of executive level experience to our management team. We look forward to him starting with council next month.

“Peter and I worked together for several years in the early 2000s and I am looking forward to working with him again.”

Mr Tabulo has also worked in town planning roles for Caboolture Shire Council, Toowoomba City Council, and the former Cairns and Mulgrave councils.

Mr Tabulo said he had seen Interim Administrator Greg Chemello and Mr Farmer steady and set the course for Ipswich City Council through transformational projects and other reforms in preparation for and beyond the March 2020 local government elections.

He said he is looking forward to contributing towards council’s evolving change in culture and service delivery to the community.

Mr Tabulo (pictured below) has a strong Ipswich connection, having attended St Edmund’s College from 1971-76 and lived at Raceview.
