Nicholas St update: Full steam ahead for redevelopment

Crews working on the Nicholas St redevelopment in Ipswich Central are back into the swing of it this week after a short break over Easter.

In recent weeks, the installation of structural steel for a new pavilion in the civic plaza was completed.

Work is continuing on the installation of planter boxes for landscaping.

The new administration building is taking shape.

Interior works on the new library are continuing at a good pace.

Walls, ceilings and services are being installed inside along with plant and mechanical equipment which will operate from the back-of-house.

On the exterior of the building, the fascia and soffit (vents installed behind the fascia to allow for airflow) works are continuing.

Work progresses on the civic plaza.

Just prior to the Easter break, crews constructing the new council administration building were able to pour the concrete for the flooring on level two.

The building’s lift core is now at level five.

Crews are now focusing on the installation of concrete columns on level two.
