Nicholas St update: Initial works start on water feature

Initial works associated with the new zero depth water feature in the Nicholas St redevelopment are under way.

The feature is a part of the Civic Plaza being constructed, with crews working over the past week on the water feature tank, undertaking waterproofing of the concrete slab and performing rough in work.

Structural steel for the new library continues to be installed. The installation of gutters and roof sheets has also commenced, and the shape of the library’s future facade is beginning to emerge.

Waterproofing work is carried out for the new water feature.

The first section of the concrete slab at ground level for the new council administration building has been poured and precast columns from ground to level one installed.

Formwork and reinforcement work continued for other sections of the concrete floor slab at ground level.

There are currently about 110 workers on site.

Construction of the roof for the new library in progress.

Also happening in the Nicholas St this week is the Nicholas St Future Flavour Food Fair.

The food truck fair will be on Saturday from 4pm, with several businesses in the precinct also opening for the event.

Free parking is available in the Nicholas St carpark (formerly the Ipswich City Square carpark), which can be accessed from Bremer Street.
