Nicholas St update: More than 250 workers now onsite

The number of workers onsite across the Nicholas St redevelopment swelled to 255 last week as more interior works on the new library, civic plaza and council administration building continued.

Crews are working on adding internal and external finishes and paving across all three sections of the development.

With much of the exterior finishes now completed on the new library, crews have been working on the ceilings, walls and the installation of services such as air-conditioning and electricity. Painting has now started inside the library.

Crews on the administration building have poured the first and second lots of concrete on level six, created the formwork for the deck on level seven and are working on the window framing, walls and ceilings on the ground floor.

The concrete pour for level seven and increasing the scaffolding to level eight is the next focus.

For the crews on the civic plaza, both shade pavilions have now been constructed and painting will begin shortly.

Paving is continuing across the entire space, with planter boxes and other landscaping elements well underway.

Much of the concreting of the landscaping elements is complete and soil is now being brought onsite ahead of future planting.

Installation of the lifts between the car park and civic plaza continues.
