Ipswich City Council is continuing its commitment to supporting community organisations through rates relief, helping not-for-profit groups direct more of their resources towards the services, activities and facilities that benefit residents.
Council’s rates concession program provides eligible organisations with financial relief, recognising the important role they play in fostering community connection and providing support across the city.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the initiative was an investment in the organisations that help make Ipswich a supportive, inclusive and more resilient community.
“In its 2026-2027 Annual Plan and Budget, council will provide close to $1 million in rates relief to almost 70 community groups and organisations including sporting clubs, charitable organisations, cultural associations and community service providers,” Mayor Harding said.
“Community organisations are the heart of our city, delivering valuable services and opportunities that enrich the lives of residents every day.
“Examples of concessions granted this year include for Brothers Leagues Club, Ipswich Basketball Association, Grandchester Model Live Steam Association and Renegade Bowman archery club.
“Organisations who support the city’s elderly and disabled residents have also received concessions including Ipswich Meals on Wheels, Endeavour Foundation and St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland.
“Concessions totalling more than $125,000 have also been granted to social and affordable housing providers National Affordable Housing Consortium, Community Housing (Qld) and Churches of Christ Housing Services, which are on the frontline helping people impacted by the ongoing housing crisis.
“By offering rates concessions, council is helping these organisations keep costs down so they can focus on what they do best, which is serving the community.”
Mayor Harding said the concessions recognised the significant social and economic value these organisations provide to Ipswich.
“Whether it’s a local sporting club providing opportunities for young people to stay active, a community group supporting vulnerable residents, or a cultural organisation bringing people together, these groups have a significant positive impact across our city,” Mayor Harding said.
“We know many community organisations operate on tight budgets and rely heavily on volunteers.
“Every dollar saved through a rates concession is a dollar that can be reinvested into programs, facilities, equipment and services that directly benefit Ipswich residents.”
Concessions granted for the 2026-2027 financial year include:
- Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich and Brothers Football Club Ipswich – $81,353
- Legacy Club of Ipswich – $42,463
- Alara Qld Limited – $35,895
- Goodna and District Rugby League Club – $8,689
- North Ipswich Bowls Club – $7,197
- Rosewood & District Support Centre – $3,686.
Council reviews applications in accordance with its adopted rates concession provisions, ensuring assistance is directed to eligible organisations that provide demonstrable community benefits.
