Residents and students step out on new footpath

Before and after: new footpath in Musgrave Street North Ipswich

A missing link in North Ipswich’s footpath network along Musgrave Street was completed in time for the start of school in 2019

Musgrave Street connects St Joseph’s Primary School with Brassall Bikeway.

Acting head of Ipswich City Council’s Infrastructure Services Department Tony Dileo said the Musgrave Street project was part of a strategic program to construct footpath missing links within 400 metres of all schools.

“Footpaths improve active transport options like walking and cycling to work and school, and for recreation.

“In all such projects council officers consult widely with residents likely to be affected by works.

“We do this well before workers are on site. This enables residents to have input into the final design and raise any concerns.

“The goal is to provide a first class job while at the same time minimising any inconvenience to residents,” Tony Dileo said.
