It’s showtime this Friday to Sunday (17 May to 19 May) and if you’re among the thousands heading to the Ipswich Show this year, you’re going to need to know what to eat while you’re there.
This year the show has doubled its food offerings with more than 20 vendors, from Greek food, pizza, baked potatoes, Mexican street food and gourmet burgers to German sausages, New York Hot Dogs, Indian, Brazilian, Ribs and more.
The international food court overlooks the Lifestyle Stage, while the family food court is opposite the free family aerial circus that seats more than 200, with shows daily at 11.30am, 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
The family food court is also near Ranger Nick’s camp oven cooking show which runs daily at 10am, noon and 5pm.
Here’s a little taste of what to expect.
The loaded sweet potato
For pork lovers, get thee to This Little Piggie for burger-y goodness and out-of-the-box creations such as the loaded sweet potato.
Just follow your nose to – authentic Brazillian BBQ chicken cooked over charcoal on site. This food truck crew is making their way from the Gold Coast for the Ipswich Show again this year.
The sweetest thing…
Taste free samples of many types of honey at the Ipswich and West Moreton Beekeepers Association stand in the agricultural pavilion.
The creamed cinnamon and ginger versions are a couple to look out for if you’re after something different.
While you’re there, take in some live beekeeping and honey extraction demonstrations, and there’s plenty of honey to buy too.
German sausages with a twist
German sausages are the specialty of The Wiener Wagon so head here if it’s a cheesy kransky or hearty bratwurst you need to propel you through your big day out at the show.
A taste of Spain
Belgian and Dutch waffles
A regular at the Brisbane Night Market and Urbane Markets Crunchy’s Waffles has a loyal following. They serve authentic Belgian and Dutch waffles from a 1980s double decker bus. With flavours from the Nutty Professor, 24 Karat Magic and Candy Land, what’s not to love.
A Mexican-Indian fusion that they say will blow your mind. Indimex on Wheels isn’t your average food truck.
Think belly warming Indian food with a Mexican twist, tacos, loaded fries, nachos, curry bowls and more.
