The Bear is back! Track the trekker

Google trekker Josh ‘The Bear’ Kerr is back walking and exploring Ipswich heritage locations as well as natural and adventure destinations with the Google Street View Trekker backpack cameras.

A recent technical glitch forced the trekker kit to be sent away for repairs.

The high tech backpack is now back in action with its 15 cameras taking photos every two and a half seconds.

The resulting footage offers 360 degree views of each destination explored on foot.

When the project is completed more than 50 locations across Ipswich will be available to view anywhere in the world through Google’s Street View.

Josh previously completed walking though more than 25 locations across Ipswich including White Rock-Spring Mountain, Flinders Peak, Queens Park and Ipswich Nature Centre.

During the first phase of the Google Trekker project Josh became an accidental instant celebrity with people asking for selfies wherever he went.

The Bear’s travel has also included popular Ipswich CBD destinations such as the Pumpyard Bar and Brewery, Dovetails restaurant, and popular Top of Town cafes and shops.

This week look for Josh out and about in the following locations:

Tuesday, September 4: Kholo Gardens and Kholo Precinct Trails
Wednesday, September 5: Hardings Paddock and Saplings Pocket
Thursday, September 6: Willowbank and Haig Street Quarry
Friday, September 7: Mihi Junction MTB Trails and Wiley Street BMX Track
