The food and entertainment extravaganza continues at Tulmur Place

After the highly successful opening of Tulmur Place in the Nicholas Street Precinct, the food and entertainment returns for another action-packed Saturday.

The food trucks roll in again for the Future Flavours Food Fair between 4pm and 9pm on 5 December, with a pop up bar hosted by Four Hearts Brewing Company, a pop up Ungermann’s Bros Ice Cream stand and live, local entertainers on stage.

About 10,000 people flocked to the new civic plaza last Saturday to celebrate the official opening.

The heart of Ipswich came alive as Mayor Teresa Harding, Deputy Mayor Marnie Doyle, fellow councillors, Henry Thompson Junior and the Yugara Dancers, joined young star Toby Mountford, 7, who won the chance to turn on the water feature in Tulmur Place.

The huge crowd enjoyed the Handmade Expo Markets, where around 100 stall holders offered a range of goodies including artisan bath bombs, clothing, jewellery, plants and gifts, along with pop up food and cold drink vendors.

River 949 radio station hosts Marnie and Campo took to the stage to welcome the Yugara Dancers, who performed a traditional welcome and smoking ceremony, followed by the official welcome by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, who shook off their shoes and splashed about in the zero-depth water play area.

The 10,000 m2 space includes stunning lawn and garden spaces, two large shade pavilions – each featuring spectacular Indigenous artworks – along with a water play zone complete with rain curtain and interactive underground water jets that was a huge hit with the kids of Ipswich.

Local musician Dee Bradbery from Wild Eyed Wonder provided the entertainment as residents got their first look at stage two of the $250 million Nicholas Street Precinct redevelopment.
