Have you been hoarding a few unwanted items around home just waiting for the next kerbside collection service to get rid of them?
Well, the wait is almost over because the next free Ipswich City Council kerbside collection pick up is just around the corner.
It will be rolled out suburb by suburb between 7 October to 13 December.
Here are a few dos and don’ts to follow when it comes to kerbside collection.
Do put your items out at the right time
It is important for community safety and suburban amenity that items are not put out too early. The time to place your items on the footpath for collection is the weekend prior to the start of the service in your suburb.
You will receive a flyer in your letterbox two weeks prior to the start of the service in your suburb so you have time to start gathering unwanted things. The pick up schedule is below, and also available here.
Do put these items on the footpath
Items eligible to be placed on the footpath include furniture, white goods, household appliances, carpet and lino, wood products (excluding commercial builders waste), bicycles, baths and laundry tubs.

Don’t put these items on the footpath
Items not eligible include hazardous waste (chemicals and oils), gas bottles, glass and mirrors, household waste (food scraps, etc), green waste, dirt and stones, bricks and concrete, commercial building waste and any other household waste that would normally go into your refuse or recycling bin.

Don’t overload your pile
You can only place items on the footpath that are equal to two cubic metres, which is the size of a small box trailer. Volumes in excess of this size may not be collected.
Don’t be late
Collection trucks will only be attending streets in each suburb once and cannot return to streets extra times as this will impact on the collection schedule for other properties across Ipswich.
Does your pile meet these requirements?
- Items no not exceed two cubic metres in volume (one small box trailer)
- Items can be easily and safely lifted by two people
- No sharp or dangerous objects are in the pile
- The pile is neat and tidy on the footpath and roadway is kept clear
- Doors are removed from cupboards
- Any outdoor play equipment is dismantled

Week starting 4 November: Eastern Heights, One Mile, Raceview, Silkstone.
Week starting 11 November: Booval, Bundamba, Dinmore, Ebbw Vale, Goodna, North Booval, Riverview.
Week starting 18 November: Redbank, Redbank Plains.
Week starting 25 November: Bellbird Park, Camira, Collingwood Park, Gailes.
Week starting 2 December: Augustine Heights, Brookwater, Spring Mountain, Springfield, Springfield Central.
Week starting 9 December: Springfield Lakes.
* Collection concludes on the Friday of each week.
I recently inquired re a kerbside collection and was told there was none scheduled. Very pleased to learn there IS. The information re the collection provided by council is comprehensive and fully detailed. Thank you ICC administrators.

Thanks for the comment. No, Lowood is not on the list. The free kerbside collection service is only for suburbs in the Ipswich local government area.
Lowood 4311 is part of the Somerset shire not Ipswich. Hope t h is helps.
Is there a weight limit on single items.
Thanks for the question Chris. There is no specified weight limit for item/s however please remember that to be eligible for collection items must be able to be easily and safely lifted by two people.
I am to scared to put anything out for kerbside pick up my street looks like the Bronx grrr can you please give me a very close approximation to when kerbside will be picked up in Goodna Lightbody st. Please and thankyou
