You’ll let the dogs out for this furry fundraiser

Ipswich residents will step out alongside their four-legged friends at this weekend’s RSPCA Million Paws Walk. The state-wide event will include 20 walks from the Gold Coast to Cairns.

Limestone Park will become pet paradise for the RSPCA’s biggest fundraiser of the year this Sunday, 20 May.

The Ipswich park will host 2km and 3km walks from 10am, helping the RSPCA in its Queensland quest to raise $645,000.

The day will start with vet talks, hydrobaths (four-legged participants only, sorry), dog competitions and a photobooth from 8.30am.

Ipswich City Council Health, Security and Community Safety Committee Chairwoman Councillor Sheila Ireland said the day would raise money to fight animal cruelty.

“Joining the walk is a way of supporting the RSPCA and raising awareness of its programs but it’s also social, active and enjoyable for owners and pets alike,” she said.

“The RSPCA really does some wonderful work in the community, finding loving homes for animals from all walks of life.

“The team from Little Athletics will put on a barbecue and canteen and the Queen of Cupcakes food van will be on hand for sweet treats.

“Goodlife Gym will lead a warm up before the walks to get everyone ready for some physical activity.”

Discounted Million Paws Walk tickets are available online for adults ($21.25), children ($12.75), families ($46.75) and concessions ($18.70).
