Your chance to check progress of capital works projects across Ipswich

Have you ever wanted to know what capital works projects are being planned and delivered by Ipswich City Council?

Council’s Infrastructure and Environment Department has launched a new mapping tool which shows all of the projects within council’s three year portfolio of works.

The interactive map (pictured below) is now available on council’s website.

Projects can be searched by address or through the legend, which features projects under construction, projects being designed, planned projects and those that have been completed within the capital delivery program.

Clicking on each project’s icon on the map shows more details about the project, including a description of the works, what to expect and an option to ask questions.

General Manager of Infrastructure and Environment Charlie Dill said that mapping council’s capital projects and making it available to the public on the website is a first for council.

“Through our department, council designs and delivers hundreds of projects each financial year and is planning and designing just as many for future delivery. Being able to represent this visually is exciting for us,” Mr Dill said.

“These maps translate quite a lengthy Gantt chart of data into really easily understood information about our program.

“Our aim is to keep the community informed of what’s happening. It’s easy to access and a great self-service tool.

“Sharing all this information will have a positive impact on the community and encourage transparency with our projects.

“There is always the risk with changes in the schedule, but it will be an education piece for everybody and keeps the community informed every step of the way.”
