It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas in Ipswich with community carols singing out across the city over the next few weeks.
From sideshow alley and delicious food to popular local performs, a 30-strong live orchestra and even fireworks, there is something for the whole family at local community carol events.
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said there will be more than two-dozen free and low-cost events for the community to come together in goodwill and joy.
“For those who love Christmas carols, homegrown musicians, local choristers and orchestras will perform special festive sing-alongs in Brassall, Redbank Plains, Robelle Domain, South Ripley, St Paul’s Anglican Church and Mega Christmas Carols in Chuwar,” Cr Fechner said.

Brassall Christmas in the Park – Beacon Community Church Brassall & online live
26 November
Bringing the community together for Christmas, this spectacular live stage show features all local talent with a live 30-strong orchestra.
Due to wet weather the Brassall Christmas in the Park will now be held at Beacon Community Church, Brassall, as well as broadcast online.

Spirit of Christmas with Ipswich City Orchestra – St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ipswich
4 December
A celebration of the Spirit of Christmas through classic and contemporary Christmas music with String Orchestra, Brass Quintet and Vocal Octet, and featuring the magnificent pipe-organ of St Paul’s.
Redbank Community Plains Community Christmas Carols – Redbank Plains Bears Club
5 December
Come join in the fun at the Redbank Plains Community Carols with traditional Christmas carols, a special visit from Santa Claus and a spectacular firework finale. Make sure to check out food truck alley and the pre-event entertainment.
Carols Under the Tree – The Big Tree – 141 Wildey Street, Raceview
5 December
A free local community event for Raceview, Flinders View and surrounding areas to enjoy Christmas Carols and other items from local groups and artists. Music by the Bundamba Salvation Army Band as the Cambrian Youth Choir leads the Carols. With contributions from Raceview School Choir and Raceview Kindergarten, ensure to come down with your own chair and picnic blanket in hand.
Springfield Carols at Robelle Domain – 155 Southern Cross Circuit, Springfield Central
11 December
A program full of talented performers, with many from the local community, a visit from Santa, a mesmerising Nativity presentation and culminating with a fireworks finale. Bring your family, your friends, your picnic rug and your best caroling voice.
Mega Christmas Carols – Tivoli Drive-In, Chuwar

Celebrate Christmas while enjoying a mega array of homegrown live performances, monstrous rides, markets, kid’s activities, Sideshow alleys, delicious food and more.
Christmas In The Valley – Ripley Valley State Secondary College Sports Oval
12 December
‘Christmas in the Valley’ is a free community event in South Ripley. There’ll be food and fun for the whole family, beginning at 3.00 pm with Christmas markets, jumping castles, a petting zoo, live music, food trucks and more! At 6.30 pm we have a Christmas Carols with special performances.
