Amazing animals caught on camera

Some of the coolest captures from the 2016 Enviroplan Photo Competition are inspiring more great shots this year.

 

The 2017 Ipswich Inviroplan Photo competition offers cash prizes and community recognition to the best photographers as they share the region’s natural beauty.

You don’t have to be a pro to enter. Photographers of all skill levels are invited to take part. Entry is quick and easy.

This year, there’s a new Instragram category, to go along with popular themes from last year:

 

Places

This category welcomes images that showcase Ipswich’s wonderful natural areas. Landscape photos and images of Ipswich’s waterways are welcome in this category and all images must be captured within the City of Ipswich.
Prize: Adult and student winners will receive $150 prize money.

People 

This category is open to images that show individuals or groups of people embracing the great outdoors, getting out in the natural environment. Don’t forget to make sure you have permission to photograph people within the photo and that all individuals in the photo are aware of entry into the competition. All images must be captured within the City of Ipswich.

 

Plants

This category showcases the natural beauty of native plants found within our city. The primary subject must be a native species and photographed within the City of Ipswich. Photos for this category include native plant or fungi species. The preference is for images taken in the wild, but images of captive native species will be accepted. Macro photography is welcome in this category.
Prize: Adult and student winners will receive $150 prize money.

Animals

This category embraces the diversity of native animals found within our city. The primary subject must be a native species and photographed within the City of Ipswich. This category includes birds, fish, molluscs, crustaceans, reptiles and mammals, as well as bees, spiders and beetles. The preference is for images taken in the wild, but images of captive native species will be accepted. Macro photography is welcome in this category.
Prize: Adult and student winners will receive $150 prize money.

Smart Living

How do you live a cleaner, greener life? This category features images that showcase the environmentally sustainable initiatives and activities within our city. Landscape and macro photography is welcome in this category and photos must be taken within the City of Ipswich.
Prize: Adult and student winners will receive $150 prize money

 

Primary Schoolers

Primary School students are encouraged to explore Ipswich’s natural environment and capture a photo of their experience. Images must be taken within the City of Ipswich and capture the natural environment. Students may wish to photograph a native animal or plant, natural landscape or body of water. Primary students may enter a maximum of three images.
Prize: Overall category winner will receive a prize to the value of $100.

Instagram 

If you are aged 13 and over, enter our new Instagram category. Simply upload your photo to Instagram using #enviroplancomp17 to enter. The primary subjects of the photo may be a native animal or plant, natural landscape or body of water.
Prize: Overall category winner will receive $150 prize money.
