Tech Time: Wikipedia Wizards

Ever thought about getting involved with Wikipedia but not sure where to start? Join our hands-on training course and learn how you can contribute to one of the largest online knowledge communities in the world.

Participants must have experience with computers.


This is a four week program that runs for 90 minutes each week.

Booking into the first session will be considered as a booking for the entire program.

Participants are still able to book into the following sessions for the remainder of the months.

Things to see and do for the kids:

Inventors Workshop – Have you ever wanted to build your own transport invention? How will we travel in the future? What types of engineering masterpieces will you create to take home? Let your imagination run wild in this hands on inventors workshop area.

Dream it! Design it! Build it! – Kids and adults will love this area, jam-packed full of Lego® and other construction gear ready for them to build and test their own inventions. Includes a special under 3’s big block builder’s activity space.

Miniature Train Rides – Take a miniature train ride around the Museum grounds. Train operates 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm daily. Additional charges apply.

First Friday Fun - Waterway Play

First Friday Fun is a monthly program designed to feed the creativity, imagination and curiosity of primary school aged students.

It’s held on the first Friday of every month at Ipswich Central Library.

Bookings recommended, but drop-ins welcome if spaces available.
Suitable for ages 5-12 years.

This month we will experiment with water hydrology in Waterway Play. Dig into Ipswich City Council’s award winning Small Creek Restoration Project as we make our own natural and ‘man made’ mini creek beds. Have some ‘hands on’ fun when changing the water flow by adding waterholes, vegetation and rubble to observe cause and effect first hand.

It’s market day at Springfield. Hop on down to Robelle Domain Parklands for an afternoon treat, browse through local talented artists and crafters, shop for homewares and enjoy dinner with family and friends from food trucks and multicultural stalls.

Climbing Web

Reach new heights and explore a hand crocheted climbing tunnel created by Evelyn Roth. Complete with music and spinning disco lights, kids can climb, tumble, dive and spin while safely suspended off the ground.

ANZAC: Photographs by Laurence Aberhart

ANZAC is the result of acclaimed New Zealand photographer Laurence Aberhart’s thirty year journey photographing World War One Memorials across New Zealand and Australia.

Focusing on the lone ‘digger’ memorials Aberhart’s photographs chart a seemingly simple pathway through the landscapes of these two nations, reflecting the scale the conflict had on these regions.

This exhibition is presented to coincide with the centenary anniversary of the end of the First World War.
