Bringing new mums together to share the motherhood journey

A mother’s group for first-time mums with a new baby is starting in Top of Town.

Talia Wells is starting Everyday Mums which facilitates the connection of new mums in weekly catch ups.

When Ms Wells arrived in Ipswich three years ago 33 weeks pregnant, she went on the hunt to find out where she could sign up for a mother’s group.

She found there wasn’t anything structured available.

“Now more than ever in the post-COVID world, new mums need this,” Ms Wells said.

“I want to help connect new mums so they can find that connection and support with other new mums.

“I noticed there were a lot of people on social media wanting to meet up, so I wanted to focus on first time mums for this first eight week block and as it grows and develops I will be able to open it up for more families.”

Each week, for eight weeks, new mums will catch up over a cuppa in a safe space to not only connect but also to learn.

“I will have guest speakers and coffee and my hope is for mums to come together and find some common ground to connect for support, to have fun and gain some knowledge,” Ms Wells said.

“If I can positively impact them in some way, that might be a connection with another mother or taking some information from one of our speakers, that is my goal.

“It might just be that they are getting dressed and getting out of the house at least once a week.”

Ms Wells has a background in childcare and two little girls of her own, Maggie, 3, and Rosie, 16 months.

“You don’t need to do this alone,” she said.

Everyday Mums is run out of the Space 2 Grow yoga studio at 191A Brisbane Street, Ipswich.

The first session is Wednesday 14 October at 9am and each session is $19.50.
