The Ipswich Civic Centre and Studio 188 have been nominated by the Queensland Music Awards for People’s Choice Award Metro Venue of the Year.
The Queensland Music Awards opens their online polling system each year aiming to find out and award the best live music venues in and around Queensland.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said it was fantastic to see Ipswich venues recognised for their contribution to the Queensland arts sector.
“The Civic Centre and Studio 188 consistently bring the best shows and music performances from across Australia and around the world to Ipswich,” Mayor Harding said.
“These venues showcase some of the wonderful variety of events across the Ipswich calendar, from theatre to stunt shows and commemorations, that make our city so vibrant and liveable.”
All voter entries for the awards go into a draw to win a double pass to celebrate with the who’s who of Queensland music at the 2021 Queensland Music Awards.
In a coup for the city, Banshees Bar and Artspace are also nominated for People’s Choice Award Metro Venue of the Year, while Earth Frequency Festival are nominated for People’s Choice Festival of the Year, alongside council’s community venues.
The awards will take place on Wednesday 5 May at The Fortitude Music Hall and the winners will be presented by The Music and Oztix.
The 2021 People’s Choice Award winners will be decided by 60 percent public vote and 40 percent from an expert industry panel.
