Get hAppy, Active and Healthy, Ipswich!

Ipswich City Council’s popular Active and Healthy Program now has an App to keep residents up to date with the latest activities, outdoor recreation and healthy eating activities on offer throughout the city.

After a soft launch in November, council has continued to add new content ready to showcase the full range of activities on offer.

The Active and Healthy Program supports and encourages the Ipswich community to become more active and develop connections through a range of free and low-cost group sports, recreation and wellness activities.

In the 2022-2023 financial year the Active and Healthy Program saw participation grow to 18,554 people involved in a total of 1,112 activities/events/workshops which is incredible.

This equates to a 73 per cent increase on participation from the 2021-2022 financial year (10,708 participants) and a 30 per cent growth in the number of activities delivered to the community (857 activities).

Council hopes the App will operate as a one-stop shop on residents’ mobile devices for viewing timetables and booking into any of council’s free active and healthy activities.

It even allows users to cancel bookings so organisers aren’t concerned about late arrivals or no-shows.

Residents need to register online to be part of the Active and Healthy program before they can access and sign-in to the App.

Visit the Active and Healthy Ipswich section on council’s website and go through the process to sign up. An automatic invitation will then be received to download the App. From there, it’s a simple process of following the prompts.

Ipswich City Council is operating under caretaker provisions in accordance with Chapter 3, Part 5 of the Local Government Act 2009. Media communications by the Mayor and Councillors as ICC spokespeople during this time are limited to ensure compliance with legislation and, equity and transparency between existing Mayor, Councillors and candidates regarding access to Council resources.
